Alex and Enrique are two Bolivian nationals. One hails from the great Andes, and the other from the Rio Grande – the Amazon. To get married, they chose the mysterious point at the very tip of Africa, where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet.
Their wedding in L’Agulhas was held with friends and family flying in for a long-weekend, and spending time together laughing, chatting and getting to know each other. The two men have Spanish as their first language – and though their English is good enough to officiate the ceremony in English with them understanding and responding in English – their family would not enjoyed the proceedings.
We worked with a brilliant linguist, who translated the bespoke ceremony into Spanish, and who also graciously translated the legal questions into Spanish – for Symi to learn phonetically. Alex and Enrique committed their lives to each other in their mother tongue.
Here’s Alexander, Symi, Enrique and Laura, our polyglot, at the tidal beach pool where their ceremony was officiated.
